Lectures in Musicology is co-sponsored by The Ohio State University Libraries. The series invites conversation with experts across the discipline. Numerous university centers and institutes at Ohio State also provide valuable opportunities for interdisciplinary research. Those of particular interest include the Center for Cognitive Science, the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, the Hilandar Research Center for Medieval Slavic Studies, the Slavic and East European Studies Center, the Center for African Studies, the Center for Folklore Studies, the Humanities Institute, the Lawrence and Lee Theatre Research Institute, the Melton Center for Jewish Studies and the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Offered Mondays at 4 p.m. and in person unless noted otherwise.

Attendance is free. Masks are optional on campus. They are still required in health settings and encouraged on campus transportation.

In-person at the 18th Avenue Library, 175 W. 18th Ave. (Music & Dance Library, second floor, room 205). Campus visitors, please use either the Tuttle Park Place Garage or the Ohio Union South Garage. All other garages in the vicinity of the 18th Ave. Library are closed to visitors before 4 p.m. Masks optional.

"How to Perform an Archive: Listening and Sonic Ethnography as Methods to Reinterpret Sonic Archives." With Brian Harnetty, post-doctoral scholar and GAHDT Fellow (Global Arts + Humanities Discovery theme). Co-sponsored by The Ohio State University Libraries.

"Approaches to Community-Engaged Research in the Humanities." With Elena Cruz-López and Jacob Kopcienski, PhD candidates in musicology. Co-sponsored by The Ohio State University Libraries.

November 7

"Distance Listening and the Diasporic Imagination." With Van My Truong, post-doctoral fellow in Comparative Studies. Co-sponsored by The Ohio State University Libraries and the Department of Comparative Studies.

November 28

"Deploying Deadness at Louis Armstrong’s House." With Michael C. Heller, University of Pittsburgh. This lecture is offered in hybrid format. Online registration is required to attend virtually; a Zoom link will be provided upon registration. Co-sponsored by The Ohio State University Libraries.
